The Connecticut Valley Football League is a 16 team fantasy football league. In 2001, they threw away their paper score keeping system in favor of a web site. The site is attached to the database that holds the stats for the league. When the stats are updated, the web site is also updated. In addition to the statistics, the site has other dynamic features which are possible through the use of the attached database. The news stories are entered into a web interface which is accessable anywhere there is an internet connection. Authorized Authors can login and upload their stories directly to the databse. Once entered, the stories appear on the web site. There is also a database powered forum for members to exchange infomation and opinions |

A news feed service is used to import news from the National Football League, and a weather service is incorporated into the site to provide real time weather reports from all of the NFL cities. The statistics are served through a combination of the javscript powered menu system and the SQL database. When a user selects one of the many options from the drop down menu, a popup window opens to display the statistics. CVFL.org is a fun site with alot of javascript action, but because it is used by a limited number of users, it is not designed to be viewed by all browsers. |
